Undefeated

A few years back, an old friend of mine was in great turmoil. One of his beloved children had sunk into the evil of the world and found comfort in criminality. This was a child nurtured with Christian values while growing up; A child every parent ought to have been proud of and even the society at large. So, what led to the child turning rogue? I inquired about this and was met with an unexpected answer, “My friend, this is a midlife crisis and many go through it.” This took a toll on me and I wondered about the many forms of personal crises that people experience at one point in their lives and struggle to overcome. Midlife crisis is a loss of self-confidence and feeling of anxiety or disappointment that can occur in early middle age. According to Wikipedia, a midlife crisis is a transition of identity and self confidence that can occur in middle-aged individuals typically 45 to 65 years old. I am persuaded to believe that heaven is aware of our situation whatever the case may be. While giving us encouragement in the same strength, Apostle Paul almost repeats the above statement of Peter. Both statements inspired by the spirit of God; he says, “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us”(Romans 8:18). One thing I’m sure of is that many things of this world with high expectations end depressingly; Yes, with records of heavy storm and fireworks in life; the Lord Himself says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). We need to take heart for the maker of the universe is in control of our situations, for better or for worse! No doubt He is interested in every aspect of life to bring our sufferings to an end, now or later. This book has useful information about people who have suffered in the Bible’s history and our current life situation. In trusting and believing in God, our present challenges of life become our future success if only we can patiently wait upon the Lord. David says; “I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy, no shadow of shame will darken their faces.” “In my desperation I prayed and the Lord listened: he saved me from all my troubles. For the angel of the Lord is a guard: he surrounds and defends all who fear Him.” (Psalm 34:4–7)
