A few years ago, I shared a poster for my upcoming Sunday sermon titled “Is God Punishing Me?” I was surprised by the overwhelming private responses — people requesting a recording and confiding in me about their silent struggles. That moment revealed how many wrestle privately with questions about God, and I knew it was finally time to write the book that had been on my heart for years.
I am Stanley Mkhwanazi from the Kingdom of Eswatini — a pastor in the Church of the Nazarene with a background in Journalism and Mass Communication (University of Eswatini) and a Bachelor of Theology (Southern Africa Nazarene University). For over a decade, I have worked with notable organizations in entrepreneurship development, helping aspiring entrepreneurs discover their potential and build sustainable futures.
My message comes from personal experience. In 2017, I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. By April 2018, the illness had forced me to leave my job, and I reached my lowest point — even considering ending my life.
In that darkness, I heard the Lord say: “I called you to preach faith, hope, and love; what you’re going through is preparing you for that assignment!” That encounter began my journey to recovery, deepened my faith, and allowed me to walk alongside others facing similar battles.
In April this year, I released my first book, Redefine Your Worth: How to Overcome Hopeless Thoughts and Enjoy God’s Unfailing Love. Written for Christians struggling with depression and hopelessness, it helps readers rediscover their value in Christ, defeat self-doubt, and build a fulfilling life — even when feeling angry, ashamed, or abandoned by God.
The book guides readers through the transformative W.O.R.T.H. Strategy:
Worship – Reconnecting with God
Openness – Being vulnerable to build a support system
Renewing Your Mind – Undoing negative thought patterns
Transforming Self-Talk – Silencing your inner critic
Helping Others – Finding purpose through service
