Juby Kgomotso Peacock

Juby Kgomotso Peacock’s loves the art of using words. All things created from words resonate with her, hence she’s and avid reader, writer, a speaker and spoken word performer. She holds a Master of Arts in Governance, Development and Public Policy from the University of Sussex (U.K): Institute of Development Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Botswana. She is a 2018 Chevening Scholarship Alumna, and a 2016 participant of the coveted Mandela Washington Fellow. Juby Peacock is a civic leader and a development practitioner. She has over 18 years of combined extensive work experience in Botswana and in the region. She is a member of Poetavango, an arts NGO which celebrates years of proven impact in education, the arts, and the cultural development space in Botswana. Juby has a decade of experience as a social worker for Botswana’s health ministry. She has used her advocacy skills to advocate for policy and legislation reform for marginalized communities, particularly people with disabilities. Outside of the professional spheres, she is a media influencer, a spoken word poet, a sought-after emcee, and a motivational speaker. On her online platforms, Juby engages in discourses on several issues that affect communities. Her status as former Miss Botswana (2004) places her as an important role model in her nation. She has also enjoyed a thriving career in modelling, including being a diamond jewellery model for Escada Fine Jewellery and the Pluczenik Diamond Group.

The book addresses critical issues she fervently advocates for and social issues she has passionately championed including mental health, inclusion of people with disabilities, xenophobia, and human trafficking, and poems under specific themes including to celebrate specific icons and individuals who have impacted the world including former President of the Republic of Botswana Sir Ketumile Masire and health advocate for UNAIDS Professor Sheila Tlou, the themes of identity, pan- Africanism, faith, love and nature. A multifaceted individual, Juby Peacock who is Miss Botswana 2004, is also a dedicated social worker, motivational speaker, emcee, poet, scholar and preacher.
