Recognising, Celebrating & Promoting Quality in Christian Authorship in Africa
Teteyian Nangurai is a storyteller at heart, driven by an unwavering belief in the power of words to inspire and connect across cultures.
As the author of Unbroken, she elegantly shares her emotional journey through the complexities of loss, healing, and resilience. After losing her mother to a heart condition in 2003 and her husband to liver cancer 13 years later, both at the age of 35, Teteyian’s story serves as a powerful reminder that grief can strike at any moment, defying logic and order. Yet, through it all, she encourages us to persevere, even when life seems incomprehensible.
Beyond her writing, Teteyian is dedicated to honouring her husband’s memory by building a community library, a project that reflects her commitment to advocating for enhanced educational resources and fostering a culture of reading.
She also plays an active role in her community by leading grief support groups, organising workshops, and guiding others as they navigate life after loss.
“Impacting lives with Christian literature”
Whether or not you’ve faced the death of a loved one, Unbroken-Smiling Beyond The Pain offers a profound exploration of the anxiety and inner turmoil that accompany the journey through cancer and loss, particularly from the perspective of a young child. It delves into the awkward questions that friends and family may hesitate to ask, the heart-wrenching decisions that must be made, and the harsh reality of being widowed at a young age. Teteyian paints a vivid picture of the moments when grief must be postponed because life demands you keep moving, denying you the luxury of mourning in the conventional way.
While each of our stories is unique, Teteyian’s narrative of stumbling with grace and rising again resonates deeply with anyone who has faced life’s harshest trials. Her story is a testament to the truth that, from the ashes of despair, beauty can indeed be reborn.
