“YOU ARE not A FAILURE” Featuring the story of Germine City, explores deeply how one can find, live, and leave an epic legacy, with Pastor David Njeru

Introducing Pst. David Njeru

My name is David Njeru, Lead Pastor of a vibrant Pentecostal church in Nairobi, located in Kabiria. I am married to one female wife, Naomi. Together, we are blessed with three amazing children: Germine City, Season Mwaki, and Segullah Kazuri. Shortly, I will share more about Germine City. Additionally, we care for and live with two orphaned children, Zed, who is in secondary school, and Martha, who is in upper primary.

I am a leadership trainer, both in corporate and church settings, a prolific writer of leadership and training content, an engaging public speaker, and a dedicated youth mentor. Furthermore, I am trained as a professional counselor and an international mediator. I oversee a professional personal development program called the School of Excellence and a youth mentorship program known as Raised Game Youth Edition.

My educational background includes a PhD in Christian Ministry, a Master in Christian Leadership and Biblical Counseling Psychology, a bachelor’s in biblical theological studies, a Diploma in Church Leadership, and a certificate in International Mediation. Most of my engagements fall under Taqa Huios, a registered entity.

My life purpose is summarized as bringing out the best in individuals to contribute to a holistic global brand positioned for generational impact. This is achieved through mission sharpening and branding of world-class influencers.

The core driving factors of my life are as follows:

  • Life: Originality and balance.
  • Relationships: Enthusiasm and credibility.
  • Occupation: Enthusiasm and credibility.
  • All-round: Ethical and exceptional.

Delving into my writing journey, particularly my nominated book “YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE”:

Writing Journey

My writing journey has been exceptional, unique, and transformative. From primary school, I expressed my creativity through inspiring compositions. In secondary school, my passion for writing blossomed through literature, and during young adulthood, I crafted suspenseful poems and engaged in creating plays and acting.

The inspiration for my writing came from influential columnists in local newspapers, and I aspired to excel beyond expectations. Since my early days, the urge to write has never ceased.

Magazines & Newspapers

Recognizing my potential, some newspapers and magazines regularly featured my work. I even had a column in one publication where I shared rich content.

The Switch

Gradually, I transitioned from writing for magazines to developing my training materials for conferences, seminars, and workshops. This eventually led me to venture into writing books.

YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE

Early in the morning of September 23, 2019, was a turning point in my life. My eldest daughter, Germine City, who was in class 8, left for school as usual with her younger brother. I bid them farewell and left for Utawala, about 30 kilometers away, where I had a 7:00 am appointment. Hardly had I settled when a call came in around 6:50 am that the school where my children attended had collapsed. I asked the caller to look for my children as he knew them. That is how my appointment was canceled. The school, Precious Talents Top School, had claimed 8 children, including my daughter.

Some were crushed, others severely mutilated, and one or two were intact but lifeless. My daughter, who was index number 001 and the top student in the school, aspiring to be a medical doctor, was no more. The day before, we held prayers in school and a briefing in preparation for the national exam KCPE was shared. As parents, we couldn’t imagine the excruciating pain that she went through before succumbing. We were devastated, torn apart, and left reeling in an endless vacuum of unanswerable questions. She had assured us of 430 marks if not 450 out of a possible 500. She was sure to be in the newspapers, TV, and radio stations. Was she there? Yes, but for bad reasons.

However, the global news of the school collapse ushered me into print and electronic media to share her story. We buried her a week later, and the following week, this book came into being. The book was written in record time.

Reading the background story of Dr. David Njeru clearly illustrates how God shapes and sharpens his servants. He turns our mess into a message, misery into ministry and tests into a testimony. A christian thinker once said, “When God wants to use a man, he does not give a man a message, he makes the man into the message” Dr. Njeru’s book will transform many lives because it has been written from the heart and not just the mind. My life and my ministry is a beneficiary of Dr. Njeru’s love and wisdom.
