The Journey of a Sales Trailblazer: From Persistence to Global Influence

Daniel Choudry is the Lead Trainer and Founding Director of the Daniel Choudry Sales Institute. He has been in the skilling and training field for ten years and is the author of four books on Sales and Customer Experience: The Practical Sales Book, Become a Sales Superstar & Dominate Your Market, The Warrior’s Productivity Planner, and The Sales Warrior’s Daily Planner.

Daniel is a chartered technical expert for European Investment Bank-sponsored trainings in 20 African countries and has conducted training programs and sales strategy consultancy for several corporate companies.

In 2008, Daniel sought an appointment with the then-CEO of MTN Uganda, Thembo Khumalo, to propose an approach to increase subscriptions on the MTN Network by 32%. However, he was declined the appointment five times by the main reception of MTN and three more times by the personal assistant on the floor where the CEO sat. Daniel never quit and never lost enthusiasm. On the 9th attempt, he got a chance to meet the CEO. That conversation led to Daniel getting a job at MTN Uganda and eventually writing his first book, Get Your Dream Job in 48 Hours.

Daniel began his sales career during his first year at university, selling short courses for the university in 2007. His supervisor tasked him with bringing in about 30 people per course across four different short programs, including certificates in bookkeeping, customer service, and taxation management. By the end of the month, the course with the fewest students—Certificate in Taxation Management—had over 160 students from the business community in Kampala. This success led Daniel’s mentor, who was also the Director of the Makerere University Entrepreneurship Centre, to advise him never to leave sales.

Inspired by his success and driven by the challenges he observed in the sales industry, Daniel wrote Become a Sales Superstar & Dominate Your Market. This book provides the necessary attitude, conversational competence, and required effort estimation for someone to succeed in sales. It also introduces Daniel’s concept of the “5-Level Metamorphosis of a Professional Salesperson’s Career,” which ranges from Existence (doing below 50% of the revenue target) to Unstoppable (doing 150% and over).

Daniel completed writing Become a Sales Superstar in 2017 and has since conducted self-launches in Kampala, Nairobi, Kigali, Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Lilongwe, Accra, and Dubai. He has sold 7,000 copies of the book and is now on the 3rd reprint of 5,000 copies. This book has established Daniel as a thought leader in sales enablement across Africa.

Currently, Daniel is in the final stages of releasing his newest book, The Sales Warrior’s Creed. This book is a 10X upgrade from Become a Sales Superstar, incorporating modern sales strategies, including the role of social media and AI, and practical sales success experiments from 27 countries.
