Embracing Uniqueness: My Journey to Writing Marked Unto the High Calling

I am excited to share the story behind my first book release, Marked Unto the High Calling. This journey began right after I was featured in the Prophetic Voice Magazine twice. In my first article, I wrote about “Being Single and Saved,” and in the second, I discussed “Christians Living with Birthmarks.”

I was born with a birthmark that covers almost my entire right side of my face and extends to the lower part of my body, including my legs. Growing up, I knew the feeling of being different from other children at school, in the community, and at church. The birthmark often made it difficult for me to make friends, as it seemed frightening to others.

Recognizing the need to change this stereotype, I decided to help those who face similar challenges. My goal is to assist people in discovering their identity in Christ, independent of worldly standards. It has always been my desire for individuals with body disfigurements or unique skin conditions to feel comfortable in their own skin without relying on aesthetic treatments or societal definitions of beauty.

It is astounding how far people go to achieve perfection in our society. This realization highlighted the need to move beyond the quest for physical beauty to please others. My birthmark, which defies conventional beauty standards, has inspired others with similar conditions, fostering confidence and a sense of acceptance. All glory be to Jesus for the lives changed through this book.

I started writing on my phone while waiting in public spaces or at church, jotting down nuggets of wisdom and affirmations on identity, confidence, bravery, and embracing our unique attributes—whether they be scars, wounds, deformities, or any form of pain. This book aims to unlock freedom for those who feel confined by their physical conditions, whether it be albinism, vitiligo, disfigurement, or any other kind of imperfection.

Marked Unto the High Calling is a guide out of the darkness many are trapped in. It’s a call to transition from merely surviving to truly living. We need to accept our conditions and embrace them if they cannot be changed. This book advocates for skin equality and is meant for kids, adults, and parents struggling to understand and accept uniqueness.

It is time to step out of the crowd because we are all “marked out for purpose.” I want people to be comfortable with their perfect imperfections, conquer the power of spoken words, and live according to God’s truths concerning their lives.

For too long, the Christian community has focused on spirituality and physical well-being, often neglecting the soul’s needs. People have prayed and worshipped while carrying unhealed wounds in their hearts. The time has come for God to attend to the whole being of His people, delivering the complete gospel to every part of us.

This is my writing journey. May you be edified and prosper as your soul prospers. Marked Unto the High Calling is here to ignite dreams and passions, encouraging you to live beyond what you see.
