Feature: A Business Leader With a Bibliophile’s Heart – Rose Mwangi

To meet Rose Mwangi Rose Mwangi, known fondly in literary circles as Mrs. Rose, is to encounter both vision and warmth—strategy wrapped in grace. A business leader at the African Book Hub KE and a long-serving ACABA Judge (2021–2025), Rose is not only passionate about literature but deeply committed to ensuring that reading becomes a lifestyle across East Africa and beyond.
Her conviction is clear: “East Africa is but a small part of a bigger continent, and an even bigger globe.” To her, limiting one’s learning to local boundaries is to miss the richness of global ideas, stories, and wisdom. Books, she believes, are portals—allowing children and adults alike to explore the world, encounter new cultures, wrestle with ideas, and imagine possibilities far beyond their physical environment.
At the African Book Hub, she champions this message boldly. Whether it’s on YouTube, or through platforms like Auntie Yanna, Rose is actively shaping the reading landscape for children and families across the continent. She consistently reminds us that reading is not just an academic tool—it is food for the soul.
“Reading improves literacy,” she often says, “but it also nourishes the imagination, expands empathy, and fortifies one’s emotional and intellectual strength.” For her, books are the building blocks of a better society—an essential nutrient for minds tasked with shaping families, communities, and nations.
Since joining ACABA in 2021, Rose has brought not only her books’ business acumen but also her nurturing spirit to the judging process. Her feedback to authors is both thoughtful and practical, helping Christian writers strengthen their work while honouring their message. Her presence on the panel is marked by commitment, insight, and an enduring belief in the power of words to disciple and transform.
In her downtime, Rose enjoys reading and traveling, often blending the two by discovering new authors in new places. Her favourite African author is Esther Muchemi, whose book Give Me My Mountain inspires bold faith and marketplace leadership. She is currently reading The Bigger Deal by Sunny Bindra—a fitting title for someone who constantly reminds us that the bigger deal is to read, grow, and rise.
To Rose Mwangi, we say thank you—for judging with wisdom, advocating with passion, and believing so deeply in the raw power of literature in Africa.
You are not only a reader and leader—you are a reformer. And we, at Christian Literature Communications – CLC Kenya and African Christian Authors Book Award – ACABA are grateful.
