If joy had a postcode, it might just read Eldoret, Kenya—because that’s where our newest Mama Africa Book Box (MABB) Brand Ambassador lives, reads, dreams, and smiles from ear to ear. Her name? Blessings Kemunto Ongeri. And yes, her name fits her perfectly 😊
Blessings is the kind of child who makes books feel alive. When she walks into a room, stories seem to tiptoe after her. When she talks about reading, you can almost hear the pages flutter in excitement. And when she was recognised at the ACABA Gala, it was one of those moments where adults blinked twice and thought, “Ah. This is why we do what we do.”
At the 5th ACABA Gala & BookFest, Blessings was honoured as the Content of the Year Awardee in the By Children for Children Category—a beautiful celebration of children writing for fellow children, and proof that young voices can carry great wisdom.
As the MABB Brand Ambassador for Eldoret, Blessings now wears a very special hat (not a literal one—though that would be fun too). She represents children who love reading, children who are discovering their voices, and children who believe that books are not just for shelves but for hearts. Her role is simple but powerful: to inspire other children to read, to write, and to believe that their stories matter—yes, even their stories.
Blessings reminds us that reading is not a chore; it’s an adventure. That books can be friends. That learning can be joyful. And that when children are trusted with responsibility, they rise—sometimes on tiptoes, sometimes in giant leaps, but always with wonder.
So here’s to Blessings Kemnunto Ongeri—our ambassador, our award-winning young author, our reader, and our cheerful reminder that the future of African Christian authorship is not only bright… it’s already reading.
