Breaking Free: Pastor John Ngure’s Challenge to the Generational Curse Narrative

My name is Pastor John Kimani Ngure.

I hail from Kangema, Murang’a County. I am happily married to Grace Kimani since 1992, and we are blessed with two children, Eston and Nancy. Our daughter, Nancy, is a mother of two boys, Xavier and Xane, making us proud grandparents.

Grace and I are both alumni of Charis Bible College, Kampala. Currently, we are dedicated pastors at GraceNest Church, a new church plant situated in Thindigua, along Kiambu Road.

In 1989, I ventured into the world of printing and copy-pasting, now known as graphic design. For a decade, I immersed myself in printing and stationery, gradually acquainting myself with the processes of printing and self-publishing books.

During my stint as a printing consultant, I often assisted author clients with their printing and finishing needs. Initially, we relied on traditional offset lithography printing methods for book production.

Around 2016, while attending an expo in Nairobi, I encountered the CLC team introducing a revolutionary technology called Print On Demand (POD). This innovation allowed for the printing of small batches of books, bypassing the traditional offset processes, which greatly intrigued me.

As a full-time pastor, I found POD particularly appealing due to its time-saving advantages, sparing me the complexities of traditional printing procedures like artwork, paper sourcing, and binding.

Though I never anticipated becoming an author or publisher myself, my profound love for reading led me to pursue writing. Over time, I observed the rising prominence of the topic of generational curses, especially within the Pentecostal community.

In 2014, I was handed a book on breaking generational curses, which sparked intense debates within my circles. Disagreeing with the notion of breaking curses, I felt compelled to redirect the discourse toward a Biblical understanding of generational patterns.

In 2021, I received a clear directive from the Holy Spirit: “STOP reacting to the book on generational curses. WRITE YOURS!” Following this divine instruction, I penned my own book, meticulously refined by a professional editor and embellished with a captivating layout and cover design by a graphic artist.

Leveraging my printing expertise, I opted for off-white paper to enhance readability and sourced printing services from Kampala. The book is now available at the CLC bookshop.
