  12. I’m right! They are wrong! We often find ourselves on the defensive as we express deep convictions about how we have been mistreated by others. Rarely do we give ourselves a moment of stillness and reflection – that minimum space needed for an honest moral and philosophical self-inquiry. As time goes by, we harm ourselves as we arm ourselves with reasons why we cannot forgive the (alleged) offender. It has been said that the first person to apologise is the bravest, the first one to forgive is the strongest, and the first one to forget is the happiest. In this book, the author empowers our weak human eyes to see beyond mere physical sight to the meteoric reach of real vision: Aha! Forgiveness is powerful and it is about healing for ourselves. True forgiveness, I can understand from the examples shared in this book, also makes us happy eventually as we heal. After all, some of these “offenders” may not even know they offended us. Some don’t know we are suffering from loads of unforgiveness. The rest don’t even care. At the end of the day, it is about us and our wholesome health, not them and their wayward ways! Later, we finally pity them as they rarely go unpunished, and in ways we didn’t even imagine at first. This turning point makes it our earnest duty to pray for them, even more urgently and firmly so when we are convicted about the purity of our motives.
