Tears of Love and Healing: Salome Njau

I’m Salome Njau—a grief coach, investor, and founder of the African Woman Development Network (AWDN). Through retreats, conferences, and workshops, I support widows from all walks of life, drawing from my own journey of loss and healing. My advocacy for widow rights has been recognized by respected leaders and featured in outlets like the Sunday Standard.

I hold both a Bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Kenyatta University, and have served in various roles at organizations such as Action Aid, World Vision International (Kenya), and the African Development Bank (AfDB). But beyond the titles, I’m a woman who has walked through grief—and turned it into purpose.

My Writing Journey

My writing began in 2004 after I lost my dear husband. I started journaling, pouring my emotions and pain onto paper. Over time, it brought me great relief. Writing became a form of therapy—helping me breathe, process, and slowly heal.

As I shared my journey, I began encouraging others who had also lost their spouses. What started as a personal outlet evolved into a ministry I’ve been running since 2012. As a public speaker involved in grief and widowhood seminars, I realized I carried valuable insight into the emotional, social, and spiritual struggles widows and widowers face.

That’s how my book, Tears of Love, was born.

Why I Wrote Tears of Love

The book wasn’t just for others—it was part of my own healing. I’ve faced deep trauma: losing my father at age 10, then my husband before our 10th wedding anniversary. Writing Tears of Love helped me make sense of it all, and to extend that healing to others walking the same difficult path.

Today, the book continues to impact readers who are grieving, offering comfort, strength, and the reminder that even in sorrow, there’s room for healing, faith, and purpose.
