Joseph Kilonzi is a radical follower of Jesus Christ, passionate Christian leader, mission mobilizer, musician, and author of The Vision of God — a compelling call for believers to embrace God’s global mission. Born and raised in Tseikuru, a remote village in Ukambani, Kenya, Joseph’s life has been a journey of mountain peaks and valley lows, yet always in pursuit of God’s heart.
From his earliest days, he displayed an unusual hunger for God — memorizing Scripture, leading worship in school, and even dreaming verses he would later share with classmates. His leadership took root in high school as Christian Union Chairperson, preaching in dormitories and seeing many give their lives to Christ.
After earning a diploma in missiology at the International School of Missions, Joseph spent transformative months in Burundi, where his team planted a thriving church of over 100 members in just one month. He later graduated from the University of Nairobi with a degree in Wildlife Management and Conservation but chose to follow a higher call — serving as a missionary among Muslim communities in northern Kenya.
It was during further mission training that Joseph fully surrendered to God’s call, realizing he was not his family’s savior and that obedience to Christ outweighed personal ambition. Now in his 10th year of full-time mission work, Joseph serves as the National Team Lead at Activate Kenya, mobilizing the Church for missions and mentoring young people, students, and professionals — many now serving among unreached people groups.
Writing Journey
Joseph’s passion for writing was ignited in 2018 at Angaza Mission School when a speaker challenged students to document what God places in their hearts. His understanding deepened after taking the Kairos course, which revealed God’s mission woven throughout Scripture. From 2021 to 2024, he prayerfully compiled notes, scriptures, and reflections into his debut book, The Vision of God.
