“The zeal to become an author burned strongly in me when I encountered CLC.” Dominic Gitonga narrates how he started writing at a very young age

My name is Dominick Mugambi Gitonga, but I use Dominick Gitonga in all avenues. I am a devout Christian, and my salvation dates back to my young age. I grew up in a religious family that attended the Catholic church. I became a Sunday school teacher at the age of ten. However, I disengaged and became a Protestant when I received salvation in my early secondary school years. Since then, I have lived a Christian life intending to allow God to use me in His way and in line with His purpose. He has entrusted me with roles as a husband, a father, a youth pastor, a speaker, a coach, and an author.

My writing journey started early; I have always practiced reading while jotting down lessons. In secondary school, I recorded in writing every new event and activity that I came across. I wrote descriptions of every person I met and had a close relationship with, detailing the attributes that contributed to my liking for them. The zeal to become an author burned strongly in me when I encountered CLC. I met CLC and read a copy of “Conceive Achieve” by Julius Mwebia and Abiah Mackenna at Chuka University during a youth summit. I had several drafts on parenting and leadership, but when Mercy Muthoni offered me a writing and publishing class, we worked on a different copy, “Until You Do It,” an inspirational motivational book.

I am the kind of person who never settles for anything less. I believe that everyone can achieve what they want as long as they have a plan and take action on it. Equally, every person does not get what they do not want, and this happens if one does nothing. This strong conviction came from reading autobiographies of many achievers in the past, with Colonel Sanders, who started Kentucky Fried Chicken, shaping my mindset to believe that we can reach where we want if we imagine, plan, and take action without being distracted. This is the primary reason I wrote this great book.

I have been engaged in a youth impact mentorship program that has given me a sense of direction. This organization, led by my great mentor, Julius Mwebia, whom I mention every time I share my writing journey, has been instrumental. He saw the energy I had and always pushed me to utilize it to stand out in my generation.

When you read the book “UNTIL YOU DO IT,” you will stop worrying about being too young, too old, or whatever your status, and realize it’s about what you want. Nothing limits a person who is passionately seeking to achieve a certain level. As you pursue your goals, you realize that building capacity, nurturing the right relationships, and persistently staying on course lead to the desired results.

Above all, those who trust in God never lack and never look back, for God settles the goals.
