Lilian Nabwire, The African Author With An Extended Hand To Help

My name is Lilian Barbra Nabwire. A little bit about my journey, am one of those people who are positive in life and always look out to encourage others. Something in me felt like everyone acted the same way whenever they were in pain or down, and just needed a hand. Informally, I have walked with some interns at various work places to help them live purposefully.

In the year 2020, I joined a leadership course at Harvest Institute and this place helped me realize my potential and how I can be more helpful with people’s journeys in life. The long and short of it for me was servant leadership and everywhere I go, I try to help as God leads. I have done teenage mentorship with Petro Zoe Initiative, to help young girls find purpose after dropping out of school due to pregnancy.

Part of the things that we were to do at Harvest Institute was to write a book. My initial thoughts about writing was ‘this is not the package that I signed up for’ and I struggled to get a topic that would appeal to all. One of those nights I talked my heavenly about this book project and how it was going to hinder me from finishing my leadership training that I so badly wanted to complete. That very morning, God told me to write about those things that I informally share with friends.

So my book ‘Thoughtful Paths’ is a self help manual that talks about some disciplines that will help us at all ages, to align ourselves with and pursue our God given purpose. It is my first book and I intend to write more because of the encouragement from friends, but most importantly the change that it has brought to people’s lives.
Outside writing and mentorship, I am an insurance practitioner in Uganda and a mother of three beautiful bunnies, I want to thank my Kenyan friends for allowing us the ‘Samias’ to continue eating fish from Migingo Islands; our children continue to stay healthy because of your generosity.
I am also glad to announce that i have been nominated for this years ACABA Awards.

The thoughtful paths, the book that reminds me that God cares. Before I read that book, I could not imagine that God is that closer to us no mater what we go through. Thanks Barbra for that powerful message
