  1. Write in Your Niche Topic

When you write on a topic you are familiar in, creating a 2000-word article will take you about 2 hours. It is important that you remain within the topics you are passionate about to ensure you also enjoy the process. You are and should be the first consumer of your content and then share with the rest of the world.

The first account I made, Theophilus, was [a continuous report] about all the things that Jesus began to do and to teach (Acts 1:1-2 Amp)

The emphasis here is that you do before you teach others. This empowers and backs your message because you will be talking from the place of experience and authority.

  1. Do a thorough research before you start your writing

We have emphasized the need for long articles (about 2000-2500 words). While the length is important, more valuable is a comprehensive article that gives readers depth into the topic at hand.

To gain this level of depth you have to do proper research. This enables you to tackle the topic well, offer new insight and positively persuade your readers to your discourse.

Research also helps you avoid biased point of view. The fact that you believe it does not make it Gospel truth. As a Christian writer, your point of view is not what wins the truth but the truth according to the Scriptures – so do a thorough research.

Research also empowers your articles to be unique and useful. If your article has the same information as every other post on the topic, Google has no reason to show it to searchers on the first page. Do your research well to ensure you offer something unique.

  1. Use a detailed outline to guide you

Outlines are what maps are to travelers. To avoid meandering in your writing and probably ending up at a place you did not intend, you should outline your work. This will help you stay within the confines of your intended outcome.

  1. Remove distractions by turning off phone and other distractions

Turn off all distractions especially the phone for the two or so hours you need to write. Consistency in your thought train will enable you flow in the writing as opposed to when you have to take breaks in between to attend to other issues in your life.

After you get a routine over a period of time, your body, soul and spirit adjust to that. Human beings are creatures of habit so train and discipline yourself to a routine. According to James Clear on Behaviour Psychology, on average, it takes more than 2 months before a new behavior becomes automatic — 66 days to be exact. It takes 18-254 days for a new habit to be formed. In other words, if you want to set your expectations appropriately, it will take you anywhere from two months to eight months to build a new behavior into your life – So the testing will be for the first 2 months of your blogging!

  1. Prioritize readability

Your blog posts need to be easy-to-read for users. But the longer your blog post, the harder it is to keep your readers engaged, and no one would want to read it. Be sure to improve the readability of your blog posts by keeping your sentences short, using fewer sentences per paragraph, and using easy-to-understand words instead of difficult ones (https://www.blogtyrant.com).

  1. It’s not all about the word count

Writing longer blog posts is beneficial to your readers and to the success of your blog. But don’t obsess over the actual word count or hitting that magical ideal blog post length. After all, there’s no such thing as a single perfect blog post length for all topics!
