The Wisdom Of Seeing – African Christian Authors

It is possible to have eyes and not see. Jesus once asked a people,

“Having eyes do you not see?” (Mark 8:18).

It is a sad thing to have people with eyes, surrounded by opportunities and not seeing them at all.

It was 1988, I was posted to be a pastor to a congregation in the city. In a corner of the church was seated a very elegant organ. No one knew that it was an expensive machine sitting there. In fact, the cleaners would splash water on it when cleaning. So, it had started rotting. That same year, we had a foods drive for a project and raised KES 75,000. I told the elders that the machine could sell for KES 150,000 or so. No one believed. We called a music guy to assess what we could sell it for. He offered KES 120,000. Now no one wanted to sell it.

The point is they had treasure their eyes saw daily but none saw it. What you see can be called a vision or dream. It is a mental picture of something not yet in the physical. When you can see it, you can manifest it. God promised Abraham a global family. It was hard for Abraham to see it. So, God took him out at night and asked him to count the stars. He was overwhelmed and God told him, so shall your children be (Genesis 15:5). He then took him to the beach and asked him to count the sand. Again, he was overwhelmed. God again said, as the sand so shall be your children (Genesis 22:17). God was painting a dream, a vision in Abraham’s imagination. From that point on, Abram became Abraham, father of nations.

The circumstances had not changed. His wife Sarah was old (65 years) still barren and Abraham was an old man (75 years), but his picture was formed. Sarah was 25 years younger when Abraham was 100 years and Sarah was 90. The first evidence of the dream was manifested. But what kept him? The dream.

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.
What do you see in your future? Do you have a dream? A vision?
What you see is what you will be (Romans 4:18-21).

God has a plan for you. He reveals it to you as a dream a desire –and sometimes an idea. Don’t throw it away, plug into your destiny by:
• Seeing right
• Believing right
• Talking right
• Living right
