Introducing...

Agnes Nyamayarwo

.

Agnes Nyamayarwo is a professionally trained nurse and HIV/AIDS Campaigner and Activist. She has been living positively with HIV for over 30 years and committed herself to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS using all means available to her, in Uganda and at an international level. She became the chairperson for the Mulago Positive Women’s Network in 2004, a position she held for several years. She also held various voluntary roles within The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) as a Clients Representative on the Client Council, the Advisory Committee and the TASO Board of Trustees. Agnes has used her tragic experience to make a difference through her volunteering and advocacy work. She joined the U2 lead singer, Bono, on the Heart of America tour to work together on advocacy campaigns to inform Americans about the urgent need for ARVs in Africa and other developing nations. She used her personal story on the international stage to battle the HIV/AIDS stigma and to help with the efforts to make ARV treatment more accessible. She shared her testimony before the US Congress in favour of President George Bush’s decision to implement the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Agnes is now retired and still passionate about HIV/AIDS issues. She splits her time
between Uganda and UK.

FINDING SOLACE-A JOURNEY OF HOPE AFTER TRAGEDY

Finding Solace: A Journey of Hope after Tragedy is Agnes’ Road map for anyone who is on the brink of
hopelessness. After losing her husband to HIV/AIDS, fear and uncertainty gripped her as she pondered
what would become of her and her ten children. Before she could get a grip on her new reality, she too tested HIV positive. A year later, her fourth child, was diagnosed with depression and went missing. Amidst her despair, her youngest son bade her goodbye, after trading the pain of HIV/AIDS for trip to heaven to sing with the angels. It’s been over thirty years since Agnes’ life dramatically changed through a series of heart wrenching tragedies. Despite this, she has somehow managed to find solace through a renewed sense of purpose for her life. The question is, how was she able to find solace when it is not a thing, a person, a place, or a time? Discover how she steadfastly changed the trajectory of her life and be inspired to do the same when faced with life’s challenges.

Agnes, reading your book got me emotional, but it also reminded me that I have to always be grateful for life and for what I have at this point in my life. You are truly a STRONG WOMAN. Your book gives strength to those who want to give up because you did not give up. You still stood strong and firm for your beautiful children through the strong winds. Thank you for giving me a true definition of unconditional love , a strong woman, a mother’s love, and a good wife . May God bless you and continue to work in your life as you bless other people with your story a JOURNEY OF HOPE

This story is a motivation to always know that even worse situations according to us are never permanent and always look to the good side of life . Nothing is better than having family and this is the basis of life.
Do not give up in life due to a situation that presents as negative.
There is no better life than seeing your children succeed and the ultimate goal of life is always having a happy life.
