My name is Blessing Kemunto Ongeri, a first born and my parent’s miracle baby after 7 years of waiting, even after the doctor had told my mum that she might not have children in her life. My parents received me as a bundle of joy after this long wait and named me Blessings. This great name was named after me because I was a God given blessings to my parents after waiting for many years. I was also born in a midst of many blessings that surrounded my parents at that time, in addition my parents believed that I would be a source of many blessings to our home, to my generation and to the world at large.
I am now 11 years old in grade 6, a first time Author who loves reading and writing. I occasionally surprise people, especially my parents with special letters/notes and drawings that pass special messages of love, appreciation, well wishes, and welcoming whenever they come back from a trip etc. It gives me joy and pleasure to see my parents happy and excited through my written messages.
My book is titled, “The Journey through the Bible”. This being the first series, features the books of the law. It is a devotional book designed for children to engage with the foundational books of the Bible, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The book combines daily scripture readings, reflections and hands-on activities over six weeks to help young readers explore and understand God’s word and apply it to their lives. Each section highlights key themes, such as God’s love, guidance and holiness, and offers creative, age-appropriate exercises like crafts, role-plays and games to reinforce biblical lessons.
The book aims to instill a sense of joy, curiosity, and purpose in children as they explore the Bible, presenting difficult spiritual truths in a format that is simple, interactive and accessible.
Through this book(s) the children are able to know more about God and His word at their tender age, the reason why God created them, how God loves them and how they are special to Him and being drawn to God by reciprocating their love for Him. Children get to learn that they are part of God’s big story, and He has awesome plans just for them.
I am so grateful that, through my mum’s book, “The Promises of God Never Fail” nomination to ACABA 2024, she got to learn about, Mama Africa Book Box (MABB) program for children and she enrolled me immediately. Apart from enjoying the stories in the books I was sent to read, I was able to learn a lot and shared the book’s devotion with my family who were blessed too, little did I know that I was going to write my own book sooner than later and become a blessing to many children as well. That is where I began to sharpen my reading, writing, journaling skills and sharing my lessons learnt from the books I was reading. I was able to compile the memory verses I obtained from the books and the Bible that later formed part of my book.
This journey enhanced my courage and confidence to learn and express myself better.
And so my mother through her book inspired me to write my own book and through the MABB program for Kids, writing my own book became a reality. I am so grateful to God’s divine connection that has seen me become an author and a blessing to many children and families within the time I never expected.
It is amazing to see how God can use me to be a blessing, as my name to reach out to the children of the world through my book(s)
