Echoes of Hope: Empowering the Forgotten Girls of Oldonyiro

About Me

My name is Margaret Chigunzi Kimaiyo. I’m a wife, a mother, and an active member of my community. For over two decades, I’ve dedicated my life to serving orphaned and vulnerable children—running Agape Hope Children Centre, an orphanage and community school that provides a safe haven and quality education to children from needy backgrounds.

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…” (James 1:27). This verse has been my guiding principle.

The Call to Write

A few years ago, I visited Oldonyiro in Isiolo and heard the heartbreaking stories of young girls and women from marginalized pastoralist communities—Turkana, Samburu, and others. Many face early marriage, FGM, and lack access to education, trapped in a cycle of poverty and vulnerability. Their stories pierced my heart, and I felt compelled to share them with the world to raise awareness and spark change.

Impact & Vision

Through Agape Hope, I’ve rescued and educated several of these girls—witnessing firsthand how education transforms lives. Yet there’s more to be done. My dream is to open a drop‑in center where these young women can find refuge, receive training, and become ambassadors for their own cause—building a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
