Mr. White: A Story of Loss, Legacy, and Unshakable Purpose

Mr. White

My name is Rev. Dr. David Njeru Ezekiel, fondly known as Mr. White.

Why Mr. White? In my mother tongue, the name Njeru means “white”—representing either the color or purity. The nickname was popularized by my youth peers, especially the drama team I acted with at church.

As a thespian, I was not only a lead performer but also one of the top creators and scriptwriters in our group.

Family

I am married to one wife, Naomi, and God has blessed us with three wonderful children. In addition, we support two full orphans who live with us—we treat them as our own and meet all their needs. They eat what we eat, and they are family in every sense.

Our firstborn, Germine City, was a bright and promising girl with dreams of becoming a medical doctor. Tragically, in September 2019, she was involved in a school accident where a classroom collapsed, taking the lives of eight children—including Germine. She was the top student in her school—a genius, truly.

Her untimely death shook us deeply and also became the driving force behind my return to school to pursue a PhD—something she dreamed of achieving to honor our family. I chose to honor her by becoming a doctor in her place.

Her story is featured prominently in my book, “YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE”, which was the first runner-up at ACABA 2024 in Kampala, Uganda, and also earned a printing voucher.

Following the release of this book, doors opened for me across both print and electronic media as I began sharing messages of hope born from our grief.

Ministry

I currently serve as the Lead Pastor of Transformation Ministries – Royal Treasure Church, a young and vibrant congregation in Nairobi.

In addition to preaching, I write training manuals for pastors and church leaders and frequently engage in ministry development across different regions.

Writing Journey & Books

Besides YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE, which centers on purpose, I have authored and co-authored several other works, including leadership training manuals.

Some of my notable contributions include:

  • “Blue Guitar” – an anthology published in the USA and edited by John Stanko. I contributed three standout pieces in this collection.

  • “Light Shines in the Darkness” – a collaborative book written by several ACABA 2024 authors, yet to be officially launched.

I am currently working on three new books. Two of them are set for release before the end of this year.

One of them is particularly bold and timely:
“Naked Truth About Sex” – a candid book targeting young adults.

In this book, I’ve peeled back the layers on a subject often avoided or only lightly touched within church settings. To enrich the depth and authenticity of the content, I traveled to Ethiopia—often referred to as the “Land of Origins”—to research different perspectives on sexuality. One chapter is fully dedicated to my findings from that journey.

Naked Truth About Sex has been nominated in the Young Adults category.
