'Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus'. (Philippians 4:6-7)
How do you live a productive life in a fast moving world and do all the important things you need to do? The answer is simple, Always have a plan and pursue it.
Remember the saying, “If you don’t have a plan for your life other people will have a wonderful plan for your life”(anonymous).
Below is a sample plan you can follow to plan your time
1. One year plan — don’t fill it with detail. Include times for family in your plan (just block times for family)
2. One month plan—at the end of month, be more specific but not too detailed
3. A weekly plan — at end of week
4. A daily plan — at end of day
5. A “To Do list”— at start of day, based on the days plan. Leave space for interruptions, rest or unforeseen things.
6. Follow the plan, it is the reason you made it. Use your plan to make decisions.
Plan in “pencil” not on stone—a good plan does not make one a rigid slave.
If you don’t have time for something, be able to graciously say “no.” The late Evangelist Billy Graham gave us a valuable principle in “Amsterdam 86.” When dealing with invitations he would go to his calendar and if he had something already planed he would say, “the spirit is willing but the calendar is full.”
Some people are too convincing they may corner you to their thing to the detriment of your plan. Be courageous and retract your step — give a reason not to pursue the new thing—do not be a people pleaser it ends in regrets.
Now, you will fail sometimes. Take failure in your stride. Some days you will be lazy. Something totally unplanned will mess a day. Something important will show up that takes you away for a day or two where you cannot do much. Don’t abandon your plan and don’t walk about in shame and guilt—you have not sinned against anybody. Just jump back to the plan, adjust what you must, and move on!
'Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men' (Proverbs 22:29NKJV)
'So you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days'. (Exodus 23:25-26NKJV)
Start with honoring and submitting our lives to him (Romans 12:1-2), then serve Him without murmuring/complaining (Psalm 100:1-2).
