My name is Makena Mugo, and I am a published author, having written one book and maintaining an ongoing blog.
I am a recent high-school graduate (yay, me!), but I’m currently taking a few months’ academic gap as I decide what to do with myself.
I’ve written a lot of things in my private time, but have published one book, a product of one of my high-school English literature projects.
After reading the legendary classic “Beowulf”, my English teacher had instructed everyone in my class to chronicle, in a variety of ways, an instance in their life that they believed reflected a “hero’s journey,” a time where they overcame a significant struggle.
I chose to base my project on my experiences during a church-based Rites of Passage camp, which I had attended when I was thirteen. I tried my very hardest to avoid making the project sad and full of despair, so I tried to focus on something I could make funny, which I did. At least, I hope I did.
I later published the project into my very first book titled “What’s Even the Point?” I expect that I will be writing a lot in the next few months though, so keep an eye out for me!
