Meet The Youngest ACABA Nominee Writer, Noah Wamuya

Noah Wamuya is the youngest ACABA 2022 nominee, he is 9 years old and has authored his first book titled ‘Sunday School Tales; New Learning’ and has been on this writing journey with his mother Judy Wamuya.

Mother and son started the writing journey together, and Judy says Noah has always had a drive to push her to tell him stories. Being a Christian woman, Judy always makes sure that the stories have a Christian teaching. Judy adds that with every story she tells him, she would urge him to tell her story of his making too or a Bible’s story in his own words. Judy says the mother / son story telling has now evolved to become story writing.

The duo’s publishing journey started when Judy met ACABA Convener and CLC Country Director Mercy Omukhango, at a forum in Chuka University, where she was teaching on authorship. Judy adds that Mercy guided them to publish either through a publisher or self-publishing ; this was after they wrote their first manuscript. They opted for self publishing and at the time Covid had struct globally and costs were high, while incomes were depressed. We used individual editors, designers for layout, and artwork.

Judy says Sunday School Tales; New Learning, is a story about Noah’s holiday moments with his aunt and cousin. His aunt narrates to Noah and his cousin about her Sunday school days. She also teaches them Sunday school kikuyu songs. Its all in an evening’s events and it ends as they head to sleep.
