Strategies that work for me
1. My church _ God has granted me lots of favor with my church mates who have bought most of my books so far_70% of which all glory goes back to God alone.

2. Schools_ coz of my teaching job now,am limited to how many schools l can visit, but have decided to specialize with national schools which understand the quality of my book and better to deal with

3. Carrying my books l go_ but Madam Beautiful has challenged me that even in wedding and other social events

4. Churches _ am Abit limited on this too, but want to be visiting serious churches only especially them that buy my services

5. Ebooks _ working on this now

I have people sharing reviews and testament , referring me to send copies to the next person. Its resounding great strategy.

Looking forward to :
-Convert my book to soft copy
-waiting to be visible in bookshops around

I am keen to flow in these two areas
1. Book series
2. Podcasts

1) One on one approach – Most of my books have moved through this approach. I take time to share my books to people I meet in functions. I take advantage of any gathering like church, weddings, social gatherings etc. For example today, I took advantage of our Aluminae day at my former high school and sold 15 books in a Midst of many activities. Last weekend my brother was wedding and I was able to sell 20 books in the midst of wedding activities.

2) Invitations to speak/preach/testify – I use every invitation I am given to mention about my book, preach using the book or testify using the book and encourage people to get the books after the sessions.

3) Sharing testaments on my book reviews – I have had experience of emergency calls, people calling me following a post about my book on social media to make orders of my books.

4) Carrying my books wherever I go – I ensure that I carry my books wherever I go since I keep pumping on my friends, colleagues, former colleagues, church mates, neighbours at home and I ensure I convince them to have my books. I ensure that I tell everyone I meet that knows me about my books. Teatament – There is a day when I visited the hospital and I remembered that my friend worked in that hospital. I looked for her and in the process of finding her, a stranger angel who knew her introduced me to her other seven friends and helped me sell the books to all of them. I had just told her I was looking for my friend to give her the book I had written and she told me, let me look at the book, when she looked at the book she immediately held my hand and dragged me to her friends marketing my books to her friends.

5) I ensure that the book supply is flowing – by getting enough copies, and ensure that my books are always available.

6) Create book awareness through social media by creating short video clips, pictures, messages etc.

As authors today, we face a rapidly evolving landscape, particularly with the rise of digital platforms and changing reader behavior. Here are some strategies that are working for me:

1. Building a Personal Brand

-Consistent Online Presence: I recognise that as an author, I am a brand, and maintaining an active online presence on platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube has helped build a following. I use the handle @muthoniomukhango on all platforms to maintain consistency and connect with my audience.

-Author Website and Blog: My professional website serves as the central hub for all things related to my ministry and writing. It showcases my portfolio, books, blogs, and upcoming events. You can explore it here: https://muthoniomukhango.kenyaclc.org/.

-Engaging with Readers: Regular interaction with readers through newsletters, social media, and online book programs has cultivated loyalty and grown my reader base. I ensure to respond personally where possible and foster community.

-Book Clubs and Media Features: Engaging with book clubs and appearing as a guest on radio has opened up deeper conversations around my books. These interactions allow me to share insights and connect with readers on a personal level.

2. Writing Across Multiple Formats

-Ebooks: With the convenience and accessibility of eBooks, I make sure my books are available in this format. It has broadened my reach to digital readers globally.

-Audiobooks: The rise of platforms like Audible has made audiobooks an essential part of my publishing strategy. Many authors, including myself, find success by releasing their books in audio alongside print and digital formats, reaching audiences who prefer listening.

-Book Series: By focusing on topics I am passionate about and creating book series for different reader segments, I’ve been able to reinforce God’s message through my work. You can explore my book series here: https://muthoniomukhango.kenyaclc.org/my-books/.

-Podcasts: Hosting and appearing on podcasts has allowed me to share wisdom and life lessons from my writing and ministry work. Podcasts are powerful tools for engaging with both existing readers and new audiences on a more intimate level. I am Reflections by Muthoni Omukhango on Spotify, YouTube and other podcast platforms.

These strategies have not only helped me grow as an author but also allowed me to extend my ministry work, reaching more people with God’s message.
