Catherine Maina Is A Firm Believer In The Influence Of A Praying Mother

My name is Catherine Gathoni Maina. I am married and a mother of three children. Our first borne son is 22 years, Second born son 19 years and our last born daughter is 12 years old. I am a counseling psychologist and currently pursuing a masters degree in Christian Leadership. I work with Missions of Hope International. This is an organization that serves children and families in disadvantaged communities through holistic ministry. I serve in the Spiritual development department as the manager. The department helps come up with spiritual development programs as well as guidance and counseling.

I wrote this book – A Legacy of Prayer because I believe in prayer and I have a great love for the children. Prayer is a powerful tool for any parent or guardian who longs to see a Godly generation and desires to leave a lasting legacy. The devotional helps parents and guardians in being intentional and orderly in praying and interceding for children.

Abraham Lincoln, one of the most remarkable and highly respected former US presidents, is quoted as saying; “All that I am and hope be, I owe it to my angel mother” and being such a great leader, his words affirm the great influence that a parent has on their children. It calls on us as parents to be intentional about the kind of influence that we have on our children. Prayer is a great part of that influence on our children and plays a critical role in shaping their future.

I am a product of my parent’s influence, and though I can tangibly point to many things I learnt of them, none surpasses my mother’s legacy as a prayer warrior. I have known my mother as a prayer warrior who daily rose up as early as 3.00 am to keep her appointment of prayer with God. Her lasting legacy of prayer still lives on through her influence on my prayerful lifestyle.

God has not asked parents to be perfect but he expects them to be praying parents for there is always a way when God is involved.
