The book speaks to everyone through intense vivid stories of a family challenged by life moments of pain, loss and grief but guided by faith and trust in God. Even with great challenges for the young family, the author show the power of time because at the end, everyone finds a way. What a read, every chapter gives a deep reflection on the families we grew in and the ones we have started. The faith of Wagechi is a true testament that nothing is impossible in Christ.
When I read the book I noticed that some of the stories are so intimate and familiar to my own personal experience having grown up in a middle class family set up in the 1980’s and 1990’s to parents who were both educationist and anglicans. It is a captivating literal piece written with a lot of passion and love for family. The book has a unique and a simple storyline that resonates with who we are culturaly in our African societies in our beliefs with an intersection of our faith.Made of steel cuts across all age groups, my 11 year old daughter has read the book so many times, intrigued especially by the development of the characters and the personalities mentioned in the book;their childhood experiences throughoutntheir teens and how they transform into these respectful people in the community.
What a timely and Exemplary labor of Love in form of a Book! Esther has brought out the themes on Family, Resilience, Love and Faith so well. The younger generation will benefit greatly from this book. Bravo, Esther! Looking forward to the next book.
The book is not only inspiring but also educational and practical. It encourages one to be determined in life.
You are good author and the message is put across so easily for anyone to capture it in just one reading. Congratulations!
Hi Easy ,
The book itself, drives someone into real meditation into why life is a long journey of
persevering .
Like you quote it in chapter seven, that ” powerful things happen when you start putting in work to achieve your goals .”
All this reminds…me on how you came in mukuru just like a joke and started education project for the needy children, that transformed several of them to be important leaders in today’s society of mukuru kwa Reuben slum .
Keep it going Essy.

Esther,
What a beautiful captivating page turning book you have shared with the world. It is presented very simply and packed with lots of humour, at the same time many practical lessons to be learnt. One great lesson I have picked from this is the assurance that our Good Lord is always in control of our journey.

Congratulations Esther!
Any parenting style that aims in supporting and guiding the behaviour of children is ideal.Wagechi in the book was keen in having an all-round formed children and future responsible parents.
Excellent work, especially on the flow of events. I have read quite a number of books, but this was special, the language and chlonogical of events wao. Congratulations
I recommend the book as a set book for our high high schools since character analysis in it really capture the literature syllabus part of our curriculum.
Esther has demonstrated that a normal family can make it amidst the challenges and natural calamities that can affect them. She has demonstrated that a determined schoolteacher who loses her husband and is left with six children can, with trust in God and determination, soldier on. But the secret is in very little things…it is in the day to day toiling of the little things – being on time, keeping ones word, engaging in chores, farm work etc. Those little things turn the children into dependable citizens. The lessons are then: not to tire to repeat, not to tire to get the children engaged in tasks and duties, not to tire to correct and highlight the wrong, not to tire to engage with God and talk to him, not to tire to be involved in the community, and also to be optimistic and do the day-to-day.
An amazing and captivating story. Be ready for really exciting moments as well as emotional sessions of equal measure. Enjoy the read.
It’s been a worthwhile journey. A dream come true. One of those bucket list ticked of.
To those who have been part of this journey, thank you very much.
