Rev. Patrick Maweu Makewa: From Teacher to Pastor – Guiding Youth with Wisdom and True Love

My name is Rev. Patrick Maweu Makewa, a retired teacher from Kenya. I retired in the year 1996, currently residing in Nairobi City. I hold a Diploma in Agricultural Education and Extention from Egerton University and a Master of Christian Ministry from Nairobi School of Theology.
Currently, I am serving as the s
Senior pastor at Redeemed Gospel Church, JETVIEW, Nairobi.
My involvement with the youth is for more than 30 years (14 as a high school and college lecturer, 10 as a youth pastor at Eastleigh Redeemed Gospel Church and 6 as a General Secretary Kenya Students Christian Fellowship). I am married to Christine Mawia , a retired Public Health Officer and now working alongside me as a pastor at Redeem Gospel Church JETVIEW.

My writing journey started in 1974 when I contributed an article in a Kenya Students Christian Fellowship annual magazine when I was a 3rd student in High School.
Later in 1979 I wrote another article in a college magazine which was judged the best and I was rewarded with a book entitled, “The Art of Writing MADE SIMPLE,” by Geoffrey Ashe.
From that time, I buried the talent until I went for a leaders’ training course in Maui, in Hawaii where God opened my eyes to see a gap in youth ministry after which I authored my first book “Developing Youth” in 2008 by Uzima Publishers and the second one “The Ten Pillars of Successful Living” also by Uzima Publishers in 2011.
I started writing “True Love Waits,” in 2009 and I revised it many times before it was published because I felt I needed to clearly speak to the youth (teens and twenties) in an appealing and understable language.

“True Love Waits” delves into the concerns and experiences of young people navigating the complex issues of love and sex offering both a cautionary tale and a path forward.

Through a systematic exploration of the issues affecting young people today, True Love Waits provides a clearer roadmap to understanding love and relationships. It outlines principles of love, identifies it various forms, and offers a Biblical and practical definition of “true love.” It also offers guidance to making wise and informed choices in the journey towards genuine love and fulfillment.
