I am a Personal and Business transformation Coach, passionate about helping entrepreneurs overcome business challenges and innovatively assisting clients turn dreams and ideas into reality. I also mentor for Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Program (TEEP) over the last two years, three mentees qualified for $5000 grant each out of the four mentored.
I am also a training consultant on Retirement planning and Personal Finance for Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA), Resources Mobilization and effective Chama’s Management for KCB. I am also an avid writer who writes inspirational and practical books based on real life stories addressing the various challenges that affect humanity.
I write to give hope, inform, educate and entertain. Through writing I give perspectives a new approach, a new dimension to same circumstances. I never thought I would be a writer at any time in my life. It came as an accident. In school I loved drama, reciting poems and debates.
In secondary school I was smitten by the Nigerian novelists and our own Ngugi Wa Thiongo. I loved literature but was poor in grammar. My English teacher made me believe that I cannot do well in languages despite being great in English literature, Swahili fasihi and tamthilia.
I figured out that I disliked long content so as a career choice I gravitated towards the sciences with the aim of being a medical doctor. I missed Medical school by a point. I almost registered for economics and mathematics save for the large classes. At the university I settled on being a scientist. During an odyssey while studying for masters in Entrepreneurship, I wrote many term papers and academic journals and there was no mention of poor grammar.
My very first academic publication was done without need for corrections. I also published a seminal paper on business incubators that has been read and cited globally, today read and cited by over 1500 academicians. The academic journals publications triggered my thoughts to challenge the belief that I was not good in grammar. I resolved to tell stories and leave grammar with the editors.
My editors love my simple way of writing, they can pay to continue reading the stories, they are as real as the can get you learn as you get entertained. Curiosity to tell stories led me to writing to share life experiences to educate and entertain my audience and followers. I use writing to help people learn, to entertain and give my audience other perspectives.
My first book ‘Life Is Like That’ was published by CLC Kenya in 2017 and it was a milestone for me as a novice writer. I worked with a coach to write the book in 2016 through a one year book writing program. Working with Coach James Karundu made the process manageable and seamlessly easy. The book is about my personal life, struggles, failures and successes. The chances that I took that led me to the person I am today. The manuscript was taken through editing by three different editors.
I engaged a graphic designer, Desmond Gichuru for the cover and layout. The graphic designer develops three concepts for the cover. I have learnt that the readers are the market and they know what they want. I like to expose the three concepts to a number of potential readers in my network to select a winning cover. The winning cover with the most votes becomes the book cover.
The complete manuscript was then published by CLC Kenya. The book has been a success. The partnership with CLC has given me an opportunity to take the book outside Kenya. My books have found their way to Swaziland, Ghana and Tanzania.
