My Authorship Journey Was Inspired By My Late Sister – Vuyiswa

My writing journey started on a sad note. I started in 2006, on the 1st of March. I wrote a Tribute in memory of my sister who had passed away in 1996. That day, the 1st of March 2006 was her birthday. It had been 10 years since her untimely death.

That tribute turned into a poignant and Spirit filled poem with sermons between the lines and some sermons tucked neatly under the lines, to be peeled off.

At that time I never had a book in mind. The birthday of my beloved, late sister brought afresh the grieving and mourning.

But thanks be to God who turns curses into blessings. Indeed Matthew 5:4 became my reality. The Holy Spirit became my Comforter and Healer. The tribute I was inspired to write on that sad day became my therapy, it blessed me and it blessed others too.

That tribute became the very first poem, the first of many poems that got compiled and published in three anthologies, one in 2011 ( The Scent of Royal Sound), 2015 (Eve’Olution) and 2021 (Ubuntu).

Fast-forward to 2023. COVID 19 crisis left me unemployed for 3 years, i had lost my job in Finance Management, where i had been working for 23 years.

Once again my faithful God who gives beauty for ashes made me enjoy the practicality of Romans 8:28.

With the “free” time I managed to finish and self-publish the third poetry anthology entitled Ubuntu in 2021.

Currently my back seat career or side hustle or hobby – writing in the shadows, alone journey, is now my main career.

My writing is currently enjoying the limelight it’s been starving for, for seventeen years.

Now I can confidently but with humility call myself a full time Writer, an Artist in His Kingdom, to inspire, to heal, to rebuke and to correct with love, His love!
