I also received an Honorary Award for my 3 books Chuck the Cheetah, Drew the Dragon and Harry the Honest Horse from ACYTIN (African Child Your Time Is Now)

Books BY Kalenga Augustine

“Impacting lives with Christian literature”

Robbie The Raven and Debbie The Dove

Robbie the Raven and Debbie the Dove offers a unique take on one of the most well-known and popular of the Bible stories. Viewed from a refreshing new angle as seen through the eyes of two high-flying friends, the story addresses the importance of patience, obedience and trusting in God, even when (or especially when!) we don’t know why He is asking us to do certain things for Him.
Using the bravery and obedience of two little birds to illustrate its point, this story teaches children how they need never ever feel alone in the world and how God can use even the smallest of His creatures to do important things which affect the whole world, if we only allow Him to!

David The Great King

This delightful story is a delightful rendition of a well-known Bible story that teaches children important lessons about courage in the face of adversity and not allowing oneself to be restricted by one’s limitations. Young readers will enjoy the main protagonist’s sense of adventure and will be inspired by David’s example to always stand up for what they believe in. The story teaches them that age, size and social stature do not need to be limitations if one believes in oneself and keeps God close to one’s heart in all that one does.

And the Awardee is...

Judges Feedback: Robbie the Raven and Debbie the Dove

The book’s greatest strengths lie in its clear and child-friendly presentation, both in writing and design, which makes it immediately accessible to young readers.

Its storytelling carries a strong, rhythmic flow, supported by vivid illustrations that capture attention and sustain engagement.

The story offers a faithful and uncomplicated retelling of a major Biblical event, allowing children to encounter the story of Noah in a gentle and inviting way.

Behind the work stands an author who has clearly honed his craft; his experience in children’s storytelling is evident, giving the book a sense of confidence and maturity that young audiences—and the adults guiding them—can trust.

A radiant read for curious minds, Kalenga Augustine’s children’s books spark wonder, kindness, and bright adventures from the first page to the last. Imaginative worlds, heartfelt characters, and gentle life lessons weave together with accessible prose and rich illustrations, creating stories that entertain while educating for both early readers and shared storytime. They offer perfect pacing for short sessions or longer journeys, and they invite meaningful conversations about friendship, courage, and helping others, making them ideal gifts for birthdays, holidays, or anyone who loves reading.

If you’re building a magical, meaningful kids’ library, Augustine’s titles deserve a top spot. Start with a title that matches a child’s interests, create a mini reading routine, and involve them in choosing the books to boost ownership and excitement. Explore bundles for classrooms or families, support local and online retailers, and consider signing up for author newsletters for new releases. I’ve shared the joy with friends and family through recommendations, social posts, and book clubs, even organizing a small reading circle to read aloud and swap copies—because these stories multiply their magic when shared.

Augustine skillfully captures the essence of David’s character, presenting him as a relatable and brave young hero who teaches children that true strength comes not from physical power or social standing, but from belief in oneself and unwavering trust in God. The story encourages readers to face challenges with confidence and reminds them that age, size, or status should never limit one’s potential to achieve great things.
The author’s simple yet engaging writing style makes the story accessible and enjoyable for children, while still carrying profound moral and spiritual lessons. Themes of courage, faith, humility, and perseverance are beautifully woven into the narrative, making it both entertaining and deeply meaningful.
Overall, David the Great King is an uplifting tale that not only retells a biblical classic but also instills timeless values in young hearts. It’s a wonderful addition to any child’s bookshelf and an excellent tool for parents and teachers seeking to impart lessons of faith and self-belief through storytelling.

I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Augustine (K.A. Mulenga), and I can confidently say that his dedication and passion for his craft are truly inspiring. Since he first started writing at the age of 10, Augustine has continued to develop his skills, resulting in over 40 self-published children’s books, each filled with colorful illustrations and meaningful life lessons.
What stands out most about Augustine is his unwavering commitment to making a positive impact through his work. His short story, Striving To Be Number One, won a Creative Writing Contest in 2021, and his book Chuck the Cheetah recently won second place at the Coppa Book Awards. He has also been recognized with an Honorary Award for his books Chuck the Cheetah, Drew the Dragon, and Harry the Honest Horse, which speaks volumes about his contribution to children’s literature.
Augustine’s passion for writing is infectious, and his ability to connect with readers—especially children—is something I truly admire. If you’re looking for stories that are not only entertaining but also impart important life lessons, I highly recommend checking out his work. He’s an author dedicated to making a difference in the world of children’s books.

Well done my love and all the best! What a gift writing is and may your gift be to the glory of God! These stories are Bible based and the prayer is always that the children who read them will be blessed. Noah’s ark is a classic and favourite story told through fresh eyes – eyes of a dove. David, a King and man after God’s own heart has a story that can be retold over and over and this story is so suitable for little ones. Simple but powerful stories. Well done and all the best!

Kalenga’s books teach young children how to have a great life by using good manners and understanding the consequences of their choices in life. As an educator, I have seen that today’s children have lost their moral compasses because of so much permissiveness. Mulenga’s books bring young children back to the center. He is a very important voice in children’s literature!
