A Beautiful Evening of Hope: The Virtual Launch of God's Miraculous Rescues by Pacifica Mochache

What inspired the story behind this book—what moment, experience, or inner burden made you realize, “This book needs to be written”?

I was inspired to write this book by the incidents that happened in my life—experiences that often felt impossible to survive, yet I made it through them. In many situations where fear, uncertainty, danger, and even death surrounded me, I came out miraculously unharmed. These were not just lucky escapes; they must have been moments of God’s guidance and protection. Each incident left a deep mark on my heart and changed the way I see life and my faith in God. Writing these stories became my way of reflecting on those experiences and sharing a testimony of my miraculous rescues with others.

Because of the events I had gone through in my young life, I felt an urge to write my personal testimony in the form of a book while I was still in high school. However, I did not have enough knowledge about writing a book, so I postponed the idea. Later, when I started working, I renewed my desire to write and even enrolled in a correspondence course on book writing. Unfortunately, this did not work out because the study materials arrived late by post.

As my working career progressed, I once again revived my dream of writing and enrolled in a creative writing course. However, I was unable to continue because I changed offices and became too busy with work.

Just after I retired from active employment and was planning to begin my writing journey, I unexpectedly bumped into a former workmate and longtime friend on the street. We exchanged contacts and later met again. She told me that she had just published her book with CLC and was happy to connect me with them. Soon afterward, I enrolled in a writing class, and in less than a year, my book was complete.

Who is the intended audience for this book, and what kind of transformation do you hope readers will undergo after reading it?

This book is written for children between the ages of 6 and 12, as well as for other readers within this age group who enjoy exciting stories set in an African village. The purpose of the book is to open readers’ eyes to some of the dangerous experiences children go through and to help them understand God’s divine protection, especially for those who are vulnerable, through His mercy and grace.

Story after story in this book reflects both the vulnerability of children and humanity, as well as God’s saving power that is present all around us. Even in circumstances that seem hopeless, God is still able to come through for those in need.

Was there a particular chapter, message, or section that was especially challenging—or especially meaningful—for you to write? Why?

The story in Chapter 5, titled “Goma Falls into the Water,” came alive as I wrote it. It took me back to when I was seven years old and brought back memories of that fateful day. It also made me smile as I remembered how God saved me.

In a split second, I was shocked and terrified when I fell backward into a canal with fast-moving water. I lost control and was swept mercilessly down the canal. Just as I approached a very dangerous point where the water dropped like a waterfall, the fingers of my right hand became caught between the roots of a huge tree growing on the bank of the canal, with many of its roots extending into the middle of the waterway. This helped me push myself upward.

All I remember is suddenly seeing my head emerge above the surface of the water. What a miracle! Only God could have done it.

Whenever I look back and remember how God saved me, I feel humbled by His saving power, and my heart becomes full of praise. I knew I had to share this testimony with others through this book.

In what ways did writing this book transform you personally—your faith, your mindset, or your journey?

In writing this book, I reflected on the incidents that put my life in danger during my childhood and on how God brought me safely through every one of those situations. Now, as an adult looking back at the story in Chapter One, titled “The Baby and the Snake,” I still marvel at how a huge snake could encircle a baby for some time and then crawl away, leaving the child unharmed.

It reminds me that there is a God who cares for the innocent and the vulnerable. This encourages me to trust Him more and to depend on Him.

For someone reading right now who feels connected to this message, why is it important for them to read this book in this season of their life?

In this era, many videos are freely accessible on the internet. Much of the information available opposes faith in God and portrays Christianity negatively. Reading the stories in my book may inspire someone who is not a believer to think twice about God and His saving power. For believers, these stories serve as a reminder that God is still a miracle-working God and that He cares for everyone, including little children.

In Chapter Four, the story titled “Ochoi on the Rooftop” narrates how a three-year-old boy strays away from a wedding celebration hall and walks to a nearby building. There, he goes around the building, finds a ladder at one corner, and slowly climbs to the rooftop. He then walks across the top of the long building and eventually forgets how he got up there.

This captivating story shows that God is everywhere at all times. The story further demonstrates God’s miraculous rescue and protection.

A message from Dr. Muthoni Omukhango, the National Director at CLC Kenya and Head of Publishing

What a joy it is to celebrate you and the release of God’s Miraculous Rescues.

On behalf of CLC Kenya Authors Collaboration, I want to honour you for stewarding these stories with such tenderness, faith, and purpose. You have taken moments from life, memory, family, childhood, and testimony, and shaped them into a book that will speak to children, parents, grandparents, teachers, and families.

This book carries the warmth of African storytelling and the strength of Christian faith. It reminds us that children are precious gifts from God, and that while they may be daring, curious, playful, and sometimes unaware of danger, they are never beyond the watchful care of the Lord.

As a publisher, it is always a blessing to see an author carry a message that is not only meaningful, but timely. In a generation where children need wholesome, faith-filled, culturally familiar, and engaging stories, God’s Miraculous Rescues comes as a beautiful gift. It entertains, but it also teaches. It excites, but it also warns. It tells stories, but it also builds faith.

Pacifica, thank you for allowing your voice, your memories, and your testimony to become a blessing to the next generation. May this book find its way into homes, schools, churches, children’s libraries, Sunday school classes, and the hands of many young readers across Africa and beyond.

May every child who reads it be reminded that God sees them, loves them, protects them, and is mighty to save.

Congratulations, Pacifica. We celebrate you, we thank God for you, and we are honoured to walk this publishing journey with you.

With warm regards and great joy,
Dr. Muthoni Omukhango
