Ephenia Mmakgosi is a mother of three teenage boys, a minister of the Word and a passionate communicator of the Christian faith. She is committed to helping others know Christ more deeply and understand the practical relevance of biblical truth in everyday life.
A creative writer, poet and gifted storyteller, Ephenia draws inspiration from personal experience, daily encounters and the lessons God reveals through ordinary moments. She has also served as a youth leader and Sunday school teacher at Elohim Tabernacle Centre under the leadership of Apostle A. Matladi and Pastor M. Matladi.

One of the things that defines me is my love for sharing with people, especially sharing knowledge. The thought of someone discovering who God is and understanding their identity in Him is what drives me. It gives me a sense of purpose. When God teaches me something, I know it is not for me alone. The book itself is a journey of discovery. One thing that stands out, and perhaps the message I felt most compelled to share as it was revealed to me, is that God cannot be limited. He can reveal Himself and teach us in ways and through things we may never expect.
The heart of my book is Christlikeness. The book reveals the nature of the Christian life and what is expected of us when we become born again. In fact, I almost titled the book Fundamentals of Christianity. After reading the book, I hope every Christian will be left with a sense of responsibility and a realisation that we belong to God and must live lives that are pleasing to Him.
Writing this book was also a journey of discovery for me. From the first chapter and throughout the book, one lesson stayed with me, and it is still lingering even now: God can use anything.
I mean, about 70% of the stories in my book are about monkeys. Imagine that! Who would have thought that some of the greatest lessons I would ever learn would come from observing monkeys?
That experience showed me that we should never limit the ways God can teach us.
Considering that this is my first book, it took faith to begin this journey. Seeing the finished product is something that words cannot fully explain.
I stand in awe of the faithfulness of God. Throughout this journey, God revealed different dimensions of Himself to me, and the process strengthened my faith and deepened my understanding of who He is.
If you value growth and desire understanding, if you want to live a life that is pleasing to God, a life of purpose, and learn to live well with others, then this book is for you. If you want to know what to do when the going gets tough or how to respond when you are faced with the storms of life, you should read this book. I have always been an advocate for empowerment through knowledge. I believe we can never reach a place where we know everything. Knowledge is progressive, and learning is continual. As Albert Einstein is often quoted as saying, “The more I learn, the more I realise how much I don’t know.” For me, that is part of the beauty of growth. There is always more to learn, more to discover, and more room to grow in our understanding of God and life.
One of the greatest privileges of being a publisher is watching how differently God speaks to His children. Every manuscript that comes across my desk carries a unique voice, a unique testimony and a unique way of revealing God’s heart.
What immediately stood out to me about Ephenia was not simply her writing, but her outlook on life. She has the rare ability to see possibility where others might only see routine. Where many would simply see cages, feeding schedules and another day at work, she saw lessons on purpose. She saw the fingerprints of God in ordinary moments that most of us would have walked past without a second thought.
That perspective is a gift.
In a world that constantly teaches us to chase extraordinary experiences, Ephenia reminds us that God often chooses the ordinary to reveal the extraordinary. Her workplace became her classroom. The monkeys became unexpected teachers. Everyday encounters became opportunities to listen more carefully to the voice of God. As I read this manuscript, I found myself challenged to ask a simple question: What lessons might God be trying to teach me in the places I have become too familiar with? I believe this book will encourage you to slow down, observe more carefully and recognise that our Heavenly Father is continually speaking, not only through His Word, but through His creation, our daily responsibilities and the circumstances He allows us to walk through. My prayer is that by the time you finish this book, you will not only appreciate Ephenia’s remarkable journey, but you will begin discovering God in unexpected places within your own life as well.
