Modi Stakio

Modi Stakio Abass Kaimbagag is a devoted servant of God with a passion for sharing the Good News and helping others grow in their walk with Him. She speaks three languages: Arabic, English, and her mother tongue, Azande.

Modi discovered her gift for reading and writing and embraced it as an opportunity to spread the Word of God through literature. Her life and ministry experiences have taken her to several countries, including Uganda, Sudan, Egypt, and Kenya.

She is a widow and mother to five biological children and three adopted children. Her guiding principle is drawn from the words of Jesus: “Do to others what you would have them do to you.” She desires to live by God’s law of love and to demonstrate that love through service to others.

Modi is also a social worker and facilitator, serving in groups both within the church and in the wider community. She is the author of Our Feet Need Light: Walking with God in a Dark World, a book born from her desire to encourage others to walk in the light of God’s Word.

Our Feet Need Light

What happens when you try to walk through life without light?

In Our Feet Need Light, Modi Stakio Abass Kaimbagag takes readers on a powerful journey through Scripture, personal stories, and timeless lessons about walking with God in a dark and broken world. Drawing from her own experiences and biblical truths, she shows how only the light of God’s Word can guide our steps, expose hidden dangers, and lead us safely to eternal hope.

From the wilderness wanderings of Israel, to David’s fall, to the struggles we face today with betrayal, temptation, and despair, this book is both a warning and an invitation. A warning against stumbling in darkness—and an invitation to embrace the true Light, Jesus Christ, who alone offers freedom, healing, and salvation.

Our Feet Need Light is more than a book; it is a lamp for your journey, reminding you that without God’s light, you cannot see the way but with Him, every step leads to life.

Welcome to the Book Launch

“Impacting lives with Christian literature”

What experience or conviction made you realise, “This book needs to be written”?

The idea for this book was sparked through my daily devotion in the Word of God. While there isn’t just one single story, I experienced various personal trials that deeply convicted me to put pen to paper. Experiencing those moments pushed me to write down the words God was giving me to help guide others through their own struggles.

Who is this book written for, and what impact do you hope it will have on readers?

This message is written for anyone who feels lost in life or is walking through a dark season—someone who doesn’t know what to do or where to turn and desperately needs light.

From the very title, Our Feet Need Light, the book guides readers to understand the true nature of light. I share my own personal experiences of how God helped me overcome adversity, so that when readers experience His light, everything in their lives will change. As John 1:5 teaches us: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” Where there is light, darkness must disappear.

Was there a particular chapter, Scripture, or message that became especially meaningful to you as you wrote the book?

Chapter Two, titled “We Need to Walk in Light,” is particularly special to me.

Light has been my personal guide as I navigate life’s path, which is why I chose the title Our Feet Need Light. God uses His light to direct our steps, help us change, and clear the darkness ahead of us.

In what ways did writing this book transform you personally, particularly in your faith and your understanding of God?

Writing this book transformed how I address life’s hurdles through faith and personal growth:

  • Overcoming Self-Doubt: I learned to build trust in myself and the purpose God gave me.

  • Filtering Noise: I realized that having too many opinions around you can create confusion, so I learned the value of taking alone time to hear God clearly.

  • Managing Financial Challenges: I practiced discipline and direct money management to ensure this project reached completion.

  • Spiritual Warfare: I deepened my reliance on prayer, through which God enabled me to surpass every spiritual obstacle.

For someone watching today who feels connected to your story, why should they read Our Feet Need Light?

If you feel like you have lost your way and don’t know how to move forward, this book offers a roadmap out of that darkness.

It is a testament that no matter how deep the darkness around you feels, God’s light and guidance can defeat it, transform your circumstances, and direct your path toward restoration.

A message from Dr. Muthoni Omukhango, the National Director at CLC Kenya and Head of Publishing

Behind every manuscript is a person who has chosen to believe that what God has placed in their heart is worth the courage, discipline and vulnerability required to put it on paper. Modi Stakio Abass Kaimbagag’s journey has been particularly inspiring to us.

One of the things I admire most about Modi is her resilience in overcoming the language barrier. She thinks in Arabic and then translates those thoughts into English as she writes. Anyone who has worked across languages knows that this is no small undertaking. Language carries culture, emotion, expressions and ways of thinking that do not always transfer neatly from one language to another. Yet Modi refused to allow that challenge to silence her voice.

Taking on this publishing project with her has therefore been encouraging for all of us at CLC Kenya. Behind the sentences we edited, we could see determination. Behind the stories, we could hear a voice that needed to be heard. And behind the manuscript was an author willing to learn, grow and keep going. For me, this book also represents something much bigger. It reminds us why we must continue creating opportunities for African Christian voices to be written, developed and published. There are testimonies, insights and experiences within our continent that should not remain within geographical or linguistic boundaries. As I look at Modi’s journey, I believe there is more coming from South Sudan to the rest of the world. This book is one contribution to that growing voice, and I am grateful that CLC Kenya has had the privilege of walking alongside her in bringing it to readers. Modi, thank you for persevering. Thank you for allowing your language differences to become a bridge rather than a barrier. May this first step give you courage for the books still waiting to be written. It is an honour to be your publisher. Congratulations and well done.
